Coloradans more likely to die of fentanyl than car crash

May 31, 2023

In case you missed it, last week it was announced 920 Coloradans died of fentanyl poisoning in 2022…

meaning it’s more likely to die of fentanyl than die in a car crash in Colorado.

The raw numbers:

➡️ 920 people in Colorado died from fentanyl poisoning in 2022.

➡️ 745 people in Colorado died in car crashes in 2022.

Fentanyl overdoses in Colorado continue to rise year after year, with some local legislation hurting more than it helped.

During her time in the state legislature, Yadira Caraveo introduced a law that lowered the penalty for fentanyl possession in Colorado, which had effects so deadly it had to be reversed. Fentanyl overdose deaths in Colorado doubled following the passage of Caraveo’s law.

“The rampant Colorado fentanyl crisis is a direct consequence of Yadira Caraveo’s soft-on-crime political agenda. Her extremist policies have repeatedly hurt Coloradans, and voters will reject her come 2024.” – NRCC Spokeswoman Delanie Bomar
