Vasquez doesn’t care about crime
Over the weekend, Gabe Vasquez was asked about his soft-on-crime votes in Congress and said, “New Mexicans aren’t worried about D.C. politics.”
Boy, is Vasquez wrong.
Carjackings rose 11% in 2022 and recently Albuquerque had the 17th highest homicide rate in the nation. As he continues to side with soft-on-crime policies, it shows Vasquez doesn’t view the rising crime in his district to be a concern.
This is the kind of lawlessness Gabe Vasquez endorsed when he backed lower penalties for violent crime in Washington D.C. Vasquez’s dangerous position was too extreme for Joe Biden, Chuck Schumer, Ben Ray Luján and Martin Heinrich.
“Crime is surging in Gabe Vasquez’s own backyard and he is signaling he doesn’t care. Re-electing a soft-on-crime politician in 2024 won’t go over well with New Mexicans who are already feeling the results of rising crime less than a year into Vasquez’s term.” – NRCC Spokeswoman Delanie Bomar
