Happy anniversary to the DC crime bill
Today marks the six month anniversary of Scholten and Kildee backing lower penalties for violent crime. Their vote was so extreme that even Chuck Schumer and Joe Biden couldnโt match their position on this.
Since 2022, there has been:
๐ 37% increase in DC violent crime
๐ 29% increase in DC property crime
๐ 28% increase in DC homicides
๐ 114% increase in DC motor vehicle theft
Their decision to side with soft-on-crime policies shows they donโt view an increase in violent crime to be concerning despite poll after poll after poll showing the issue is on votersโ minds.
โSix months ago Hillary Scholten and Dan Kildee made their position clear: They represent the most extreme fringe in the Democrat party. Across the country crime is on the rise, but they have shown they would rather side with murderers, robbers and violent criminals than prioritize the safety of Michigan.โ โ NRCC Spokesman Chris Gustafson
