A not so happy anniversary
August 16, 2023
It’s been one year since the poorly named “Inflation Reduction Act” was signed into law and the reviews are in:
- Nearly half of Americans say their financial situation is actively “getting worse” under Biden.
- Inflation surged more than any wage gainsAmericans might have experienced.
- Inflation means families spend $709 more per month than two years ago.
- Grocery costs are 23% higher than they were at the start of the pandemic.
- There were 5.9 million Americans working part-time in July, who would rather have a full-time job but cited economic reasons for not doing so.
NRCC National Press Secretary Will Reinert said: “President Biden celebrates while Americans mourn the damage extreme Democrats did to their wallets. The Inflation Reduction Act did nothing to ease the cost of living crisis, but it did force already struggling middle-class families to pay $20 billion in new taxes.”
