Republicans romped to victory up and down the ballot in New York last night, providing an abundance of optimism for the six swing-seat Congressional Republicans currently representing the blue state:
- Republicans gained complete control of Long Island for the first time in at least 20 years with Ed Romaineβs landslide victory in the Suffolk County executive race. According to CBS News, “Romaine’s win could boost the freshman congressmen who swept last November and played a major role in helping Republicans take control of the House of Representatives.”
- In a sign of the political impact of the migrant crisis and extreme Democrats’ open border policies, Kristy Marmorato broke “a Republican curse thatβs swept the Bronx” with the first city council victory there in over 50 years.
- In Brandon Williams’ NY-22, Republican Ryan McMahon scored a “lopsided” win for over Democrat Bill Kinne by 24 percentage points in the Onondaga county executive race — home of the city of Syracuse.
NRCC National Press Secretary Will Reinert said: “Every state is a border state with Joe Biden’s open-border policies. Nowhere was that more apparent than in New York last night as the migrant and crime crises promise to be a one-two punch against Democrats’ dreams of retaking GOP held swing seats.”
