Democrats attack their own in AZ-01

November 27, 2023

The Arizona Republic and POLITICO previewed the vicious intraparty battle to come in the crowded 1st Congressional district Democrat primary.

First, the Republic reported on a poll testing Dem-on-Dem attacks for the primary: “Democrats […] are sharpening their knives for a combative primary race.”

Then, POLITICO reported on a war of words between the Democrat Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) and multiple 1st district Democrat campaigns.

Multiple candidates complained the DCCC did not invite them to its ‘candidate week’ in D.C. last week. In response, the DCCC attacked candidates in their own party (!!!).

“The knives are out in Democrats’ chaotic intraparty clash, with even the DCCC joining the melee. ‘Only’ 253 days of vicious infighting to go until the August primary will leave Democrats’ eventual nominee broke, toxic and incapable of unifying their party.” – NRCC Spokesperson Ben Petersen
