NRCC Launches “Majority Makers” Video Highlighting Rep. Derrick Van Orden

February 8, 2024

WASHINGTON – The National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) released a Majority Makers video highlighting Congressman Derrick Van Orden’s background, how his story translates to his mission in Congress, and his motivation to govern by consensus.

“The story of Derrick Van Orden encapsulates the many values that make America so unique: self-reliance, determination, and perseverance in the face of challenges,” said NRCC Spokesman Mike Marinella. “Van Orden has taken these values to Washington and has treated his time in Congress no different than his mission as a Navy Seal as he is a relentless fighter for what is best for America. That’s what makes him a dynamic representative for the hardworking men and women of Southwest Wisconsin.”

“Being a Seal is not about you; it’s about the Seal team and it’s about completing the mission. Interestingly enough, the mission is the same here in Congress for me as it was in the Seal teams, and that’s America. America’s the mission.”

“Because of my background, again, being very poor and being in the military and working in some very diverse environments, I had to be able to listen to people that I disagree with, so I can understand the perspective and try to change that perspective through the power of discourse.”

“There are people that confuse compromise with capitulation, and I have not done so. You have to govern by consensus. If I was not in Congress now. I would be incredibly frustrated because I saw what the Biden administration and a lot of other folks have done to this nation in such a short period of time, and I know that I can potentially affect positive change.”
