Does Curtis Hertel think Ruby Garcia’s killer should have remained in Michigan?

Brandon Ortiz-Vite, the illegal immigrant who shot and killed Ruby Garcia in Grand Rapids last week, was previously deported by ICE after he was arrested in Detroit during the Trump administration in 2020. However, he then re-entered the United States via Joe Biden’s open borders. 

It was recently reported that Curtis Hertel opposes local municipalities reporting illegal immigrants to ICE – exactly what was done to Ortiz-Vite.

This begs the question: Does Curtis Hertel think Brandon Ortiz-Vite should have remained in Michigan after his 2020 arrest?
