RATINGS CHANGE: TX-28 moves toward Republicans
Cook Political Report just moved TX-28 toward Republicans following the news that Henry Cuellar has been indicted for accepting $600,000 in bribes from the Azerbaijan government and a bank in Mexico.
Citing how his “indictment puts him in a more vulnerable position,” Cook Political points out the lack of support from Cuellar’s Democrat colleagues in comparison to Republicans who have pounced on the news.
This comes as Sabato’s Crystal Ball also moved TX-28’s ranking toward Republicans earlier this week.
“Henry Cuellar is a liability for his fellow South Texas Democrats Vicente Gonzalez and Michelle Vallejo, officially making him another headache for national Democrats in the region. Meanwhile, Republicans are bullish on the domino effect to come across South Texas.” – NRCC Spokeswoman Delanie Bomar
