ICYMI: Mondaire Jones Is Not Doing Great

Mondaire Jones has not been doing well these past few weeks. After trying to perform an election year switcheroo, Jones has lost the plot but not his penchant for extreme progressivism.

Last week was challenging for Mondaire Jones, who is running to reclaim his seat in Congress representing New York’s 17th District in the lower Hudson Valley.

Jones angered progressives when he endorsed Westchester County Executive George Latimer in the Democratic primary in the neighboring 16th District…In response, the House Progressive Caucus severed ties with Jones, the Working Families Party rescinded its support of him in the upcoming election and fellow “Squad” member U.S. Rep. Cori Bush called the endorsement “disgusting.”

Then on Friday, City & State published a story upending the two-year narrative that Jones was kicked out of his home district in 2022 by Sean Patrick Maloney, who represented the 18th Congressional District before New York’s congressional maps were redrawn. City & State cited five sources, including a former staffer, claiming Maloney offered to bow out of the race, but Jones declined to run in the 17th District because it was seen as tougher for Democrats.
