Caraveo’s law causes more fentanyl overdoses
The City of Denver today announced that fentanyl overdoses are on the rise in Denver.
Rising fentanyl overdoses can be traced directly back to a law introduced by Yadira Caraveo in 2019 that lowered the penalty for fentanyl possession in Colorado.
In the two years following the passage of Caraveo’s law, fentanyl overdose deaths in Colorado doubled, and those numbers keep rising. With effects this deadly, the law was ultimately reversed, but the damage was already done.
“Extreme Democrat Yadira Caraveo needs to take ownership of her role in Colorado’s fentanyl crisis and apologize for the heartbreak it has brough to Colorado communities. Shame on Caraveo for siding with drug cartels over her own suffering constituents.” — NRCC Spokeswoman Delanie Bomar
