NRCC Statement on CO-08 Primary Election
June 26, 2024
The National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) released the following statement on Colorado’s 8th Congressional district primary election:
“Congratulations to Gabe Evans on his primary election victory. Gabe’s experience as the grandson of Mexican immigrants and his service as an Army Black Hawk helicopter pilot, combat veteran, Arvada police officer, Colorado state legislator and father has uniquely prepared him to tackle the crime, migrant, fentanyl, and inflation crises facing Colorado’s 8th. We look forward to reminding voters that Yadira Caraveo has enabled these exact crises and is unfit to serve Coloradans in Congress.” — NRCC Spokeswoman Delanie Bomar
Background:
- Caraveo introduced legislation to lower the penalty for fentanyl possession in Colorado, which doubled fentanyl overdose deaths in Colorado and led to the state’s recent unprecedented number of deaths from fentanyl.
- Caraveo enabled Denver’s migrant crisis by opposing securing the border and hiring more Border Patrol agents. She’s also called to loosen immigration rules and defund ICE and CBP.
- There are fewer police on the street in the Denver area to afford Caraveo’s migrant crisis.
- Caraveo has voted against critical funding for the military and veterans.
