NRCC Statement on Vasquez’s Visit to Santa Teresa port of entry

The National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) released the following statement on Gabe Vasquez’s visit to the Santa Teresa port of entry today:

“This trip is merely an election-year stunt by Gabe Vasquez. The only thing Vasquez has done for the border is cause more problems for the hardworking Border Patrol. After years of anti-border security rhetoric and voting against the straight-forward Secure The Border Act, Vasquez has no right to brag about anything related to border security.” – NRCC Spokeswoman Delanie Bomar

The truth is that Vasquez is against border security. He has:

• Voted against the Secure the Border Act.
• Voted against denouncing Biden-Harris immigration policies.
• Voted against hiring more CBP agents and streamlining the asylum process.
• Voted against deploying improved technology to the southern border.
• Voted against ending catch and release.
• Voted against removing Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas.
• Established ties with an extreme open borders group.
• Said the border crisis is a “non-existent threat.”
• Called efforts to secure the border “ill-informed” and “in bad taste.” 
• Called to eliminate ICE, claiming it has “no regard for humanity.”
• Said the border wall was built by a “crooked, racist administration.”
• Applauded Biden for halting construction on the wall.
• Called border security a “racist, environmentally destructive, massive waste of money” and “a glorification of xenophobia.”
