Republicans are hoping to pick up seats in the Midwest to keep their majority — and a new internal poll is giving them optimism in Michigan.
The race to replace retiring Rep. Dan Kildee (D-Mich.) is a coin flip, according to a mid-October survey of 400 likely voters: Republican Paul Junge was up 41 to 40 percent over Democrat Kristen McDonald Rivet, with 13 percent undecided. The margin of error is 4.9 percentage points.
Former President Donald Trump was neck and neck with Vice President Kamala Harris, 47 to 46 percent, in the survey of the 8th District, which was conducted by NMB Research for the National Republican Congressional Committee’s independent expenditure arm. President Joe Biden won the district by 2 points in 2020.
