Kristen McDonald Rivet Slammed for Demonizing Police
Self-serving hypocrite Kristen McDonald Rivet is being called out for claiming to ‘stand with’ law enforcement after years of demonizing police.
McDonald Rivet has an extensive defund-the-police record:
- McDonald Rivet claimed policing in the United States was “born of a structure put in place to oppress” while stating policing needs an “overhaul.”
- McDonald Rivet took $21k from a Soros funded organization that pushed to defund the police.
- McDonald Rivet was endorsed by anti-police Reproductive Freedom for ALL, formerly called NARAL.
- New York Post: Dem candidate in key Michigan House race once blasted police as a ‘structure put in place to oppress’
- Washington Free Beacon: Dem House candidate took $21k from Soros-backed ‘Defund the Police’ group, records show
“Kristen McDonald Rivet didn’t just stand by while radicals attacked law enforcement; she cashed their checks, promoted their platforms, and echoed their dangerous rhetoric. McDonald Rivet’s desperate attempt to spin her defund-the-police record is a slap in the face to the brave men and women in blue.” – NRCC spokesman Zach Bannon

In a press conference held Tuesday of this week to commemorate National Police Week, U.S. Rep. Kristen McDonald Rivet, D-Bay City, pledged her support for the Boys in Blue.
[…]
But her record tells an entirely different story.
McDonald Rivet was elected to replace the retiring Rep. Dan Kildee last November, and Gov. Gretchen Whitmer has yet to call for a special election to select her replacement in the state Senate.
McDonald Rivet has been aligned with several groups dedicated to the Defund the Police movement, including accepting a $21,000 campaign donation for the George Soros-affiliated PAC for America’s Future.
She also received an endorsement from the group Reproductive Freedom for All, formerly called NARAL, which noted in 2023: “NARAL Pro-Choice America supports the demands of the Movement for Black Lives, including defunding the police and investing in Black communities, which are a response to hundreds of years of systemic oppression and the failure of reforms to address urgent needs and injustices. Budgets reflect our priorities. As such, the call to defund the police is also a call for investment in Black communities—in urgent needs that are currently underfunded, like access to healthcare, education, social services, and more. Through this investment, we can work to make sure every person, every parent, and every family is able to thrive”
In 2020, McDonald Rivet posted on social media her support for the George Floyd protests in her native Bay City.
[…]
“We can’t stand silent,” she continued. “George Floyd was murdered while pleading for his wife and calling for his mother. Again and again this happens in cities across the country, born of a structure put in place to oppress. It can’t be fixed with small gestures. We need an overhaul now. Demand action. Vote,” she concluded.
McDonald Rivet’s law enforcement about-face prompted a response from National Republican Congressional Committee spokesman Zach Bannon.
“Kristen McDonald Rivet didn’t just stand by while radicals attacked law enforcement; she cashed their checks, promoted their platforms, and echoed their dangerous rhetoric,” Bannon said. “McDonald Rivet’s desperate attempt to spin her defund-the-police record is a slap in the face to the brave men and women in blue.”
