NRCC Statement on AZ-01

The National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) released the following statement on Arizona’s 1^st Congressional District:

“Republicans will field a strong candidate to defeat whichever liberal emerges from Democrats’ 7-way primary. Voters in this district are shifting rightward and reject Democrats’ tax-raising, open borders agenda.” – NRCC Spokesperson Ben Petersen

Background

• President Trump won the 1^st district in 2024 by over 3 points.
• Republicans’ voter registration edge in the 1^st district grew to more than 62,000 voters.
• Since 2022, Republicans increased their share of 1^st district voters to 37.7 percent — a 10.7 percent advantage over Democrats. Meanwhile, Democrats’ share decreased.
• Many Democrats running in their 7-way primary have expressed support for far-left, socialist policies that will be disqualifying in a general election.
