The visit aimed to highlight the importance of supporting veterans’ mental health and the overall impact veteran-owned businesses have on their communities.
During his visit, Van Orden participated in a puppy training class to learn about training young dogs.
“I think it’s critically important that we have our vets employed immediately following getting out of the service. It helps them readjust back into civilian life and this is just a wonderful thing, and who doesn’t like puppies I don’t know!” Van Orden said.
Earlier this year, Van Orden led two bills that support veterans. The Veteran Home Loan Program and the Tuition Fairness Act. They since have both been passed into law as of early December.
