Political opportunist Paige Cognetti was just brutally called out in a local paper for rippingpaid maternity leave away from Scranton mothers. Is there any aspect of life in Scranton Paige hasn’t made worse?

I recently read a Washington Examiner report detailing changes to Scranton Mayor Paige Cognetti’s maternity leave policies, and it raises an important question: why hasn’t this been covered more thoroughly by our local press?

According to the article, benefits for newer city employees were scaled back, including requiring unpaid maternity leave in some cases and increasing costs for workers. For many families, that’s not a small change, but a real financial and personal burden at a critical time in their lives.

If these reports are accurate, this is exactly the kind of issue that deserves closer attention and thoughtful coverage. Decisions that directly affect working parents and city employees should not go unnoticed or unexplored.
