AZ-01 Democrats Oppose Laken Riley Act, Back Open Borders During Far-Left Debate

June 10, 2026

AZ-01 Democrats showed they support open borders and dangerous sanctuary city policies that allowed criminal illegal immigrants to prey on innocent Americans during their race to the far-left primary debate.

Democrats Amish Shah, Marlene Galan-Woods and Jonathan Treble said they would have voted against the Laken Riley Act. Their positions put them to the left of 58 Democrat Members of Congress who voted FOR the Laken Riley Act, including Democrat Ruben Gallego. WATCH:

Shah went even further, calling for dismantling ICE entirely, saying “We’ve got to take that agency and quite frankly start over.” WATCH:

“Democrats Amish Shah, Marlene Galan-Woods and Jonathan Treble demonstrated they are so radical and out of touch they want criminal illegal immigrants with convictions to stay and continue terrorizing families in the Valley. Arizonans will reject this open borders agenda espoused by these far-left Democrats.” – NRCC Spokesperson Ben Petersen
