Sarah Trone Garriott Calls Rural Healthcare Funding “Crumbs”

Last night, Sarah Trone Garriott dismissed the Rural Health Transformation Fund, which delivered $209 million for Iowa hospitals, as “crumbs,” and “almost nothing.”

Those “crumbs” are funding new cancer treatment, recruiting doctors to rural communities, and ensuring Iowans can access care close to home. 

Rep. Zach Nunn helped deliver that $209 million to hospitals, including $32 million for a four-county Combat Cancer Health Hub at Wayne County Hospital. But apparently Sarah Trone Garriott thinks those communities would be better off without the funding.
