Sarah Trone Garriott Can’t Run From Her Votes, So She’s Attacking an Iowa Mom
Sarah Trone Garriott spent the weekend trying to change the subject. Here’s the subject:
- Girls’ sports (HF 2416, 2022): She voted against keeping boys out of girls’ sports.
- School locker rooms (SF 482, 2023): She voted against keeping boys out of girls’ locker rooms and bathrooms.
- Gender procedures on minors (SF 538, 2023): She voted against banning puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, and genital mutilation surgeries for kids.
Saturday’s Washington Post story confirmed her locker room vote. It also noted she’s now running TV ads claiming she opposes “letting men in women’s locker rooms.” Her votes say otherwise.
Instead of explaining her record, Trone Garriott attacked a mom who has sought and gained redemption and a second chance at life.
Trone Garriott is an ordained Lutheran minister. Redemption is supposed to be her line of work. Instead, she used a woman’s second chance as a campaign weapon to avoid talking about her own record.
“Sarah Trone Garriott voted to put boys in girls’ locker rooms, and she knows Iowa parents won’t forgive it. So now a minister is attacking a woman for choosing redemption. That tells you everything about how desperate she is.” – NRCC Spokeswoman Emily Tuttle
