Portland Paige Can Never Escape Who She Is or What She Stands For

October 28, 2026

Political opportunist Paige Cognetti wants Northeast Pennsylvanians to believe she’s one of them. Portland just claimed her as its own.

In a story published today by The Oregonian, longtime Portland Congressman Earl Blumenauer hailed Cognetti as part of “a renaissance” in the Democrat Party, said Portland’s values were “part of our DNA,” and argued those values carry over to districts like Pennsylvania’s Eighth.

Northeast Pennsylvanians should take him at his word.

Cognetti grew up in Oregon, attended the University of Oregon, moved to DC to work in politics, then Boston to attend Ivy League graduate school, then New York to work at Goldman Sachs before relocating to Scranton to start her personal political career.

Portland is what happens when liberals get everything they want: high taxes, rising crime, failed schools, and leaders who can’t fix their own streets. And Paige Cognetti’s record reads like it was written in Portland:

  • She raised taxes on Scranton families to fund DEI positions, despite promising no new taxes.
  • She fantasized about disarming police officers and taking Pennsylvanians’ guns.
  • She made Scranton less safe with her soft-on-crime policies.
  • She backed the Biden administration’s immigration policy, which allowed millions of unvetted migrants to enter the country illegally.
  • She joined Obama administration officials to push Green New Deal policies.
  • She spent $75,000 of taxpayer funds on an “equity plan” that aimed to install DEI policies throughout Scranton’s city government.
  • She threatened to sic law enforcement on churchgoers on Easter Sunday.
  • She called America “stolen land.”

When The Oregonian asked Cognetti about her Portland roots, she declined to comment.

“You can take political opportunist Paige Cognetti out of Oregon, but you can’t take Oregon out of Paige. Cognetti should abandon her vanity run for Congress in Pennsylvania and return to Portland, where her high-tax, far-left, DSA-inspired agenda will fit right in.” – NRCC Spokesman Reilly Richardson
