New radio ad hammers U.S. Rep. John Tanner's votes on spending
May 7, 2009
The National Republican Congressional Committee on Wednesday began airing radio ads in U.S. Rep. John Tanner’s district accusing the leader of the Blue Dog coalition of fiscal conservatives of being a “lap dog” for House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
The full-minute ad says that Tanner voted for the $787 billion stimulus bill and supports the “Pelosi-Obama” budget with its “massive new federal spending (and) trillions in new debt.”…
“John Tanner loves preaching that he’s a fiscal watchdog when he’s at home, but he has done nothing but relent to Nancy Pelosi and give a blank-check to reckless spending in Washington,” NRCC communications director Ken Spain said in a statement e-mailed to reporters. “The result of this rubber-stamped, one-party rule is a mounting national debt that will end up costing future generations.”
