Former Speaker Gingrich, Actor Jon Voight To Speak At Fundraiser

WASHINGTON – The National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) and the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) announced today that actor Jon Voight will serve as the emcee for the 2009 GOP Senate-House Dinner on Monday, June 8, 2009. Former Republican House Speaker Newt Gingrich will serve as the keynote speaker during the annual Congressional Republican fundraising dinner.

Additional event speakers include U.S. Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY), U.S. House Republican Leader John Boehner (R-OH), NRSC Chairman U.S. Senator John Cornyn (R-TX), NRCC Chairman U.S. Rep. Pete Sessions (R-TX), U.S. Senator Orrin Hatch (R-UT), and U.S Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI). Information regarding press credentialing for the event is listed below.

Newt Gingrich remains and influential voice within the Republican Party. He is a solution-oriented conservative whose proven leadership from the time he was elected in 1978 to the Republican takeover he led in 1994 has earned him a prominent place in the history and the future of our Party,” said NRCC Chairman Sessions.

Jon Voight is a successful film and television actor, earning an Academy Award for Best Actor in 1978 for his work in the film Coming Home. In addition to his work as a outstanding actor, Jon Voight has also established himself as a selfless humanitarian. He has served as an advocate for American Indian Rights, along with working on behalf of Vietnam Veterans. Meanwhile, Voight was the recipient for the Congressional Medal of Honor Society’s Bob Hope Award for his support of the U.S. Military.

Newt Gingrich has been a prominent leader in the Republican Party since being elected into office in 1978. Gingrich, who served as the Speaker of the House from 1994-1995, was honored by Time magazine as Man of the Year in 1995 for his role in leading the Republican Revolution to victory in the 1994 midterm election. Since leaving office, Gingrich has continued a successful career of public service as a political analyst, consultant and author.
