John Salazar: A Two-Timing Man

Salazar Attempts to Play Both Sides in the Healthcare Debate

Washington– John Salazar will be in the hot seat when Obama parades into Grand Junction, Co., today attempting to salvage what little scraps are left of his faulty healthcare agenda. And Salazar, who has not held any public town halls will be exposed for what he is: a two-timing man.

In an attempt to play both sides Salazar refuses to publically state where he stands on healthcare, yet he serves as Obama’s wing-man by setting up his Saturday town hall for him:

“The White House confirmed late Tuesday afternoon that Obama will hold the meeting at Central High School from 4:15 to 5:30 p.m.

“School District 51 spokesman Jeff Kirtland said Tuesday a representative for U.S. Rep. John Salazar, D-Colo., contacted the district late Monday afternoon and asked to use the school for the meeting” (Mike Wiggins, “Obama to host health-care town hall at Central High,” The Grand Junction Daily Sentinel, 8/11/2009)

“John Salazar’s deafening silence only led his constituents to believe that he was avoiding them in an effort to kill time until he could hide behind Obama’s coattails today,” said NRCC Communications Director Ken Spain. “Now that time has run out for John Salazar’s two-timing ways, his antics are about to get him burned when his constituents see through his silence for what it is – an attempt to hide from Democrats’ gigantic healthcare policy flop. If Salazar is truly interested in lowering healthcare costs and restarting the true engine of our economy, then he shouldn’t support a government takeover of healthcare that will raise taxes, force millions of Americans out of their current coverage and potentially destroy five million American jobs.”

Other leaders in Colorado have taken notice to Salazar’s deafening silence:

“[Mesa County Commissioner Janet] Rowland on Saturday also called out U.S. Rep. John Salazar, D-Manassa, suggesting he’s avoiding the health care debate.

“Rowland said she recently called his office asking about a town-hall-style forum being organized in Grand Junction, which is in Salazar’s 3rd Congressional District. She said she was told “maybe,” depending if there was enough interest.

“When was the last time you have seen John Salazar in Mesa County?” she said, wondering aloud if he has been to the Grand Valley recently just to ride in a ‘freaking parade.’” (Paul Shockley, “Hundreds rally against Obama’s health plan,” The Grand Junction Daily Sentinel, 08/09/09)

As John Salazar continues to play the field, surely his constituents will catch on to his two-timing ways. Will Salazar choose his constituents or will he continue to play Obama’s wing-man?
