Mary Jo Kilroy Just ‘Doesn’t Know’ If Democrat Plan Will Lower Costs

Freshman Rep. Lacks Details on Gov’t-Run Healthcare Plan, But Still Wants Central Ohioans To Pay For It

Washington – With national Democrat leaders herding their rank and file members towards yet another disastrous vote, Rep. Mary Jo Kilroy (D-OH) is admitting that she really has no clue what this latest Democrat scheme will do. While Democrats are touting their “plan” as an effort to lower costs, Kilroy admits that she doesn’t know that it will do that.

“I don’t think we’re trying to sell the idea that this will lower costs because we don’t really know,” she said. (“Kilroy pitches health care reform,” Columbus Dispatch, August 6, 2009)

This should come as no surprise to Kilroy’s constituents, since voting for bills that she hasn’t read is quickly becoming second nature for her. Kilroy voted for the Democrats’ failed stimulus plan, not to mention their anti-jobs national energy tax which had a 300-page amendment dropped just hours before the vote. Apparently it doesn’t matter what is actually in the bill, if Nancy Pelosi and Democrats in Washington endorse it, then that is good enough for Kilroy.

“Mary Jo Kilroy’s comments continue to defy logic and common sense,” said NRCC Communications Director Ken Spain. “If Kilroy admits that she doesn’t know if the Democrat’s government-run healthcare plan will do anything to lower costs, why is she prepared to force central Ohioans to pay for it?  After supporting a stimulus boondoggle and a job-killing national energy tax, Kilroy is now intent on making an already failing healthcare system even worse for Ohio families who are struggling.”

Kilroy’s recent actions can only leave middle-class families in Central Ohio wondering one thing: When will she finally do her job and actually understand what she is voting on, instead of blindly following the lead of Nancy Pelosi and her party bosses in Washington?
