Left Coast Walkout: Even California Town Hall Attendees Can’t Take it Anymore

Town Hall Attendees Walk Out After Hearing Ridiculous Claim that Medicare will “Improve” with Healthcare Takeover

In One Last Attempt to Deflect Criticism, Desperate Dems Race to Salvage Healthcare Takeover Plans, Foresee More Public Anger:
“Faced with sagging approval for Democrats’ health care plans heading into the August recess, House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) said Thursday that his party will have a more focused message buoyed by deals emerging from both the House and Senate….’We’re going to be on the air, we’re going to be in neighborhoods,’ he said. ‘We’re going to have a lot of help.’” (Steven T. Dennis, “Hoyer Says Democrats Going on Offense Over August,” Roll Call, 07/30/2009)

“Congressional Democrats, already behind in their bid to revamp the U.S. health-care system, will spend an August break trying to resolve discord within their party, fending off Republican attacks and taking on insurers.” (“Lawmakers Move to Sell Health-Care Plan to Voters,” Bloomberg, 08/04/2009)

Recess Roasting: Crowd Walks Out After Disagreeing With Capps on Health Care Proposal

On the West Coast, Democratic Rep. Lois Capps, a former nurse, sat on a panel with an emergency room doctor and the director of the Area Agency on Aging at a forum in San Luis Obispo, Calif. The Tribune News in San Luis Obispo reported that she maintained that Medicare would improve under the new health care proposal, but a group of 40 to 50 people who apparently disagreed walked out about an hour into the meeting.
