Desperation: Owens Calls on Biden Again
Is Loose-Lipped VP Really the Last Best Hope to Elect Another Pelosi Yes-Man?
Washington- Bill Owens is grasping at straws today as his path to victory narrows. The proof? He’s called in gaffe-prone Vice President Joe Biden in a last ditch effort to drum up support. The visit marks Biden’s third trip to New York on behalf of Owens, all with neutered results as the Democrat candidate faces an increasingly difficult battle in his attempt to rubber-stamp his party’s reckless agenda in Washington:
“Democratic candidate William L. Owens will begin the day in Watertown, joined by Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr. The two will speak at a get-out-the-vote rally at 10 a.m. at the North Side Improvement League, 633 Mill St. Doors open at 8:30 a.m.
“He will follow that up with a visit from 2:30 to 3 p.m. to John’s Family Restaurant, 44 Finney Blvd., Malone, and a get-out-the-vote event from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Plattsburgh Democratic field office, 373 Route 3.
“His campaign said that will wrap up his ‘11 County Jobs Tour.’” (Nancy Madsen, “Candidates Spend Last Day on the Stump,” Watertown Daily Times, 11/3/09)
“It’s going to take more than a drop-in visit from Washington lifer Joe Biden to convince voters to buy into Bill Owens’ agenda of higher taxes and fewer jobs,” said NRCC Communications Director Ken Spain. “Nancy Pelosi is already counting on Owens to rubber stamp her reckless job-killing agenda, but even an all-out blitz from Washington Democrats can’t convince voters to send another Pelosi yes-man to Congress. Owens has had months to explain to voters how he’ll stand up for Central and Northern New Yorkers and create local jobs, but he’s more interested in rubbing elbows with party insiders who seem to have little interest in solving the problems that affect middle-class families every day.”
With less than a day to go until Election Day, will Bill Owens finally come clean with an agenda for Central and Northern New York or will he be too busy parroting his party bosses’ anti-jobs talking points?
