Ks. Dems Cry Foul on “Giving Up” Moore’s Seat
The Kansas Democrats are very unhappy with a news release that is out from the National Republican Congressional Campaign Committee (NRCC).
The NRCC’s release says Democrats were “giving up” on holding on to retiring Democrat Dennis Moore’s seat, because it was not listed on a Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) new release of “Races to Watch”. (See previous post from earlier Friday).
NRCC spokesman Tom Erikson says the omission of the Ks3 means the Democrats are “giving up” on holding Moore’s seat.
“Mr. Erickson is being untruthful and misleading”, charges Ks. Democratic spokesman Tyler Longpine.
Longpine says the list of “Races to Watch” include Republican Members of Congress the DCCC thinks could be flipped, or they are open seats with no incumbent.
“Obviously, Congressman Moore’s seat doesn’t match that criteria because we hold the seat. But it’s not unusual for the GOP pitbulls to let the truth stand in the way of a cheap shot.”
Erickson jabbed at the Democrats in the Ks3, “He adds, “This really shouldn’t come as a surprise to those who have been following the race–or lack thereof.”
He referring to the fact the Democrats have yet to field a top tier candidate for the seat. This week, former KCK Mayor Carol Marinovich said she was not interested in running. A lot of people are now waiting for a decision from the current KCK Mayor, Joe Reardon.
A Spokeswoman for the DCCC, Gabby Adler says of the Ks3, “That’s a race that is still shaping up.”
The Democratic ‘Races to Watch’ does have some local interest.
In the ‘Top Races’ list, The DCCC release mentions the Ks4, an open seat now occupied by Rep. Todd Tiahrt. He’s running for the US Senate against another Republican Congressman, Jerry Moran of Hays. The DCCC release lists State Legislator Raj Goyle as the Democrat in the race.
The Mo8, with veteran Republican Congresswoman Jo Ann Emerson, is listed on the Democrats’ “Emerging Races”‘ The D in that race is Tommy Sowers. |
