Nan Hayworth Advances in Young Guns Program
New York Republican Takes Important Step Towards ‘Young Gun’ Status

Washington- The National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) announced today that Republican Nan Hayworth (NY-19) has reached ‘Contender’ status as part of its Young Guns recruitment program. ‘Contender’ status is the second step in the three-level program, with Hayworth now facing a new set of benchmarks to reach ‘Young Gun’ status in her bid to unseat Democrat John Hall.

Founded in the 2007-2008 election cycle by Reps. Eric Cantor (R-VA), Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), and Paul Ryan (R-WI), the Young Guns program is a member-driven organization dedicated to electing open-seat and challenger candidates nationwide. By achieving ‘Contender’ status, Hayworth has already proven her ability to build a successful campaign structure and achieve important fundraising goals.

Nan Hayworth has demonstrated leadership abilities in New York and served her community as an ophthalmologist for 16 years. She developed her thriving solo practice from scratch and also worked as a former partner in the Mount Kisco Medical Group. In 2007, Hayworth became a Vice President in Medical and Scientific Affairs at a large health-care communications agency, Cline, Davis and Mann, in New York City. She has served as an attending physician at Northern Westchester Hospital and also taught residents as an Instructor and Assistant Clinical Professor at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York.

Throughout her career, Hayworth has been included on several top-doctors lists, including the Guide to Top Doctors, published by Consumers’ Checkbook; America’s Top Ophthalmologists and the Guide to America’s Top Physicians, published by Consumers’ Research Council of America; and Best Doctors in America. Hayworth has been active in community and civic endeavors in the Hudson Valley and beyond and is prepared to serve as a responsible voice for New Yorkers. Hayworth’s campaign has already achieved some success, reporting $519,000 cash on hand as of December 31, which is $67,416 more than Democrat incumbent Hall had on hand.

“Nan Hayworth has already proven that she will be a formidable candidate by meeting the rigorous goals of the Young Guns program and is well on her way to building a winning campaign to put this seat back in the Republican column,” said NRCC Chairman Pete Sessions. “Nan is part of a strong and growing candidate pool of everyday Americans who are frustrated with the majority’s big-government ways and aren’t willing to stand idly by any longer. Her campaign has put partisan Democrats like John Hall on notice that Americans are ready to turn the page on the failed experiment known as the Obama-Pelosi agenda.”

While already having completed certain steps to place her on the road to victory, Hayworth now faces a new set of rigorous benchmarks that will elevate her to the top level of the Young Guns program and help her build an effective, winning campaign.
