Loyal Lapdog Eager to Please Party Bosses, Even at the Expense of Constituents
Washington- The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is under fire to produce new regulations by April 29 and representatives from industrial states are growing worried that the job-killing, stringent policies of the Obama administration will be put into effect. With the help of Democrat lapdog Betty Sutton, similar regulations known as the national energy tax have already passed the House. In a letter to the EPA, a group of nine Republican and Democrat Senators – including both Ohio Senators Democrat Sherrod Brown and Republican George Voinovich – warned of the job losses that would stem from the EPA’s overreaching mandates. With such strong bipartisan opposition to the Obama-Pelosi national energy tax, Ohio families want to know why Democrat loyal lapdog Betty Sutton continues to put partisan politics over Ohio jobs.
“Ohio Sens. Sherrod Brown and George V. Voinovich are pressing the Obama administration to adopt clean-air regulations that would be more favorable to industry.“In a previously undisclosed letter, Brown, a Democrat, and Voinovich, a Republican, warned the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency that Ohio and other industrial states ‘simply cannot afford job losses associated with rules more stringent than necessary to protect the public health and safety.'” (Jack Torry, “Ohio’s senators ask EPA to go slow on clean-air rules,”
Columbus Dispatch, 4/20/2010)
Sutton supported the national energy tax known as cap-and-trade, which would put up to 108,600 Ohio jobs in jeopardy:
“By 2030, as emission reduction targets tighten and other W/M provisions phase out, Ohio jobs decline by 79,700 under low cost case and by 108,600 under high cost case.” (“Ohio Economic Impact on the State from the Waxman-Markey Bill, H.R. 2454,” National Association of Manufacturers, 8/12/2009)
