GOP throwing “pink slip party” for Grayson and Kosmas

May 10, 2010

bunch of conservatives who want to boot U.S. Reps. Alan Grayson and Suzanne Kosmas are going to be outside Orlando City Hall on Saturday — and for once, it’s not tea party activists. The National Republican Congressional Committee is hosting a “pink slip party” for the two Central Florida Dems targeted by the GOP.

“It’s time to say to Grayson and Kosmas, ‘You’re fired,’ ” organizers said in a news release. They promised that the website www.pinkslipparty2010.com will be up and running on Tuesday.

The rally from 2-4 p.m. on Saturday is described as a “fun, family-friendly event” with games, music and prizes. Headliners include U.S. Rep. Pete Sessions of Texas, the NRCC chairman; state Rep. Scott Plakon, R-Longwood, who sponsored legislation to allow Florida to opt out of health care reform; Angie Langley, who launched www.mycongressmanisnuts.com to slam Grayson; and Jack Cassell, the Mt. Dora doctor who advised patients to find care elsewhere if they voted for President Obama. Organizers also invited the seven Republicans running in Grayson’s 8th District and the five from Kosmas’ 24th District.

Asked for comment, here’s what Grayson had to say: “You would think that, with all the pink slips the Bush administration caused, that would be enough for them.” Zing!

And from Kosmas spokesman Marc Goldberg: “Suzanne continues to focus on her efforts to represent the priorities of Central Floridians by supporting common-sense measures to create jobs, boost the economy, and restore fiscal responsibility in Washington.”
