GOP Committee Launches Site Targeting Arcuri

June 23, 2010

The National Republican Congressional Committee on Tuesday announced the launching of a new website that labels U.S. Rep. Michael Arcuri, D-Utica, and nine other Democratic congressmen as the “puppets” of Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

In a news release announcing the “Pelosi’s Puppets” website at www.pelosispuppets.org, the NRCC criticizes Arcuri for voting with Pelosi more than 90 percent of the time and “remaining fiercely loyal to his puppet master” and “her radical agenda.”

Of the votes highlighted on the website, however, Arcuri voted with Pelosi only on two of the five votes—fewer times than any of the other nine Democrats featured as “puppets.”

Arcuri voted with Pelosi on the budget and stimulus bill, but against her on the cap and trade bill and two health care roll calls, according to the website.
Republican Richard Hanna, of Barneveld, is challenging Arcuri for the 24th Congressional District seat.

Tompkins County resident Ernest Logan Bell also plans to run as a Republican.
