Rangel Remains Chairman After House Dems Defeat GOP Push for Removal

Rep. Charles Rangel survived yet another GOP attempt Wednesday to toss him from the top job on the influential House Ways and Means Committee.
Democrats quashed the effort on a near-party-line 246-to-153 vote. They instead routed the request for his ouster to the House ethics committee.
That panel has been investigating Rangel for more than a year. It is probing the Manhattan Democrat on several fronts, including his failure to pay taxes on rental income from his Caribbean villa.
