Loyal Lapdog Kurt Schrader Calls on Biden For Help
Vice President to Host Fundraiser for Politically Vulnerable Oregon Dem

Washington– After laying his political career on the line to help his Democrat party leaders pass their big-spending, big-government policies 97 percent of the time, Oregon Democrat Kurt Schrader’s job is now in trouble. In just the two short years Schrader has been in office, Oregon’s unemployment has jumped from 8.3 to 10.6 percent. And no thanks to his constant rubber-stamping of his party’s job-killing economic policies and his support for a failed trillion-dollar stimulus, Schrader has left middle-class families scrambling for jobs with no economic recovery in sight. Now, Schrader has desperately called on Vice President Biden to help salvage his vulnerable political career.

“Vice President Joe Biden will be the guest at a fundraising reception for the re-election campaign of U.S. Rep. Kurt Schrader, a Democrat who is seeking a second term in the Mid-Valley’s 5th District.” (Peter Wong, “Biden will appear at event for Schrader on July 8,” Oregon Statesman, 7/08/2010)

“By repeatedly rubber-stamping his party’s out-of-touch and job-killing policies 97 percent of the time, loyal lapdog Kurt Schrader is now left scrambling to salvage his political career,” said NRCC Communications Director Ken Spain. “Oregon middle-class families are tired of high unemployment and skyrocketing debt, and now that Schrader faces a strong challenge from Scott Bruun, he is looking for any help he can get. But even as Schrader asks his friends and allies Vice President Biden and Nancy Pelosi for help, it still appears as if he will be out of luck and out of a job in November.”

According to new polling, Democrats’ and Vice President Biden’s approval is at an all time low, especially among Independents:

“Two new polls this morning augur ill for President Barack Obama and his fellow Democrats who control Congress. The worst — from Gallup — finds that for the first time since Obama took the oath, his support among independents, a key voter segment in his decisive 2008 coalition election win, has fallen below 40%.”

“Also out this morning, a new Harris Poll of 2,227 adults finds widespread dissatisfaction and disenchantment with leading Democrats in Washington. Only 26% have a favorable view of Vice President Joe Biden’s job performance…Only one-in-five approve of the job done by California’s own Speaker Nancy Pelosi, while nearly half (49%) give her negative reviews.” (Andrew Malcolm, “Crucial independent voters abandoning Obama, now under 40%, lowest ever,” Los Angeles Times, 7/07/2010)

After repeatedly proving that he’s another radical-leaning Democrat, Schrader has put himself at odds with Oregon families. And with a strong challenge from independent-minded Scott Bruun, Schrader may be sent home packing in November.

“As a freshman from a swing district running for re-election for the first time, Schrader is by definition at risk. Add to that a sour economy, a potential Republican opponent who’s already running TV ads, declining fortunes of Democrats nationwide, and it would be understandable if Schrader were nervous.” (Charles Pope, “GOP’s top congressional target in Oregon is Kurt Schrader,” The Oregonian, 5/03/2010)
