Hotline On Call: NRCC buys $900,000 in air time to support Herrera in 3rd District
September 16, 2010
The website Hotline On Call says national Republicans have bought $900,000 in broadcast time to support Republican state Rep. Jaime Herrera’s campaign for the 3rd Congressional District seat being vacated by retiring Democratic U.S. Rep. Brian Baird.
The money from the National Republican Congressional Committee would be spent in the Portland media market beginning Sept. 24, Hotline On Call says. Republicans see the competitive 3rd District race as a chance to capture a House seat from the Democrats. Herrera faces Democrat Denny Heck in the November general election. Heck is a former state legislator and once served as chief of staff for then-Gov. Booth Gardner. Hotline On Call says the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee has reserved $1 million in broadcast time in the Portland market, beginning in October. |
