Sean Duffy wants to take his ax to D.C.
(CNN) – In a new campaign commercial, Wisconsin’s resident lumberjack shows that he’s come a long way since Boston.
Sean Duffy, a former cast member of MTV’s reality shows “Real World Boston” and “Road Rules: All Stars” and a two-time champion professional lumberjack athlete who’s now the Republican nominee for Wisconsin’s 7th congressional district, released an ad Wednesday that depicts how he says he’ll tackle the physical challenge of chopping the national debt. In the commercial, Duffy uses his lumberjack lineage to bolster his pledge to “topple the big spending in Washington,” and boasts that he’s “always been quick to take on a big piece of timber” while standing atop the aforementioned piece of wood. After he chopping the top off, Duffy promises to “bring the ax to Washington.” Duffy, a former district attorney who was endorsed earlier this year by former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, easily won the GOP primary on Tuesday. He now faces state Senator Julie Lassa, the Democratic nominee, in the general election this fall. Lassa was first elected to Wisconsin’s Senate at age 27. The winner will succeed longtime Democratic Rep. David Obey, who announced earlier this year that he would not run for re-election. |
