Leader Boehner Pledges Support to Secure Veterans Affairs Seat for Ed Martin

Washington House Republican Leader John Boehner today pledged his support to secure an assignment on the important House Committee on Veteran Affairs for Ed Martin, GOP nominee for Missouri’s Third Congressional District.

“Ed Martin has my full support for a seat on the House Veterans Affairs Committee. America’s warriors and their families need a leader like Ed Martin who listens, understands the challenges they face, and is eager to address them. Ed also knows that the policies coming out of Washington lately – ‘stimulus’ spending sprees, costly mandates, and government takeovers – have failed our veterans. That’s why I look forward to working with Ed, the Republican leadership, and the Members of the Steering Committee to place him on the committee at the earliest possible opportunity.”

Military veterans make up 10.8 percent of the population of Missouri’s Third District. The district includes Jefferson Barracks, one of the nation’s oldest cemeteries and the burial place for soldiers from all wars. Jefferson Barracks originally served as a military post as early as 1826 and became the army’s first permanent base west of the Mississippi River and the largest military establishment in the country. Ed Martin, whose brother is an active duty Marine, has a deep and personal concern for our military veterans. As a member of the House Committee on Veteran Affairs, Ed will have the ability to help protect our veterans and oversee any legislation affecting them.

Ed Martin is a “Contender” in the NRCC’s Young Guns program. Learn more about Ed here: http://edmartinforcongress.com/
