Fran Becker Reaches ‘Contender’ Status

Washington- The National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) has officially announced that Republican Fran Becker (NY-04) has reached ‘Contender’ status as part of its Young Guns program. ‘Contender’ status is the second step in the three-level program. Becker now faces a new set of benchmarks to reach ‘Young Gun’ status in his bid to unseat partisan Washington insider Carolyn McCarthy (D-NY), who has the most party-line record of the entire New York Delegation. In addition, McCarthy has recently found herself in a hotbed of corruption involving a shady pay-to-play scandal. As a result of her destructive economic agenda and recent transgressions, McCarthy is now tied with Republican Fran Becker and facing the race of her life.

Founded in the 2007-2008 election cycle by Reps. Eric Cantor (R-VA), Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) and Paul Ryan (R-WI), the Young Guns program is a member-driven organization dedicated to electing open-seat and challenger candidates nationwide. By achieving ‘Contender’ status, Becker has already demonstrated his ability to build a successful campaign structure and achieve vital fundraising goals.

“Fran Becker has met a series of rigorous fundraising and campaign goals that will go a long way in helping to put this seat in the Republican column,” said NRCC Chairman Pete Sessions (R-TX). “Fran is part of a strong pool of candidates who are frustrated with the Democrat majority’s big-government ways and aren’t willing to stand by any longer. The success of his campaign has put partisan incumbent Carolyn McCarthy on notice that New Yorkers are ready to turn the page on an agenda that spends too much, borrows too much and taxes too much.”

Fran Becker is a popular and beloved fiscal conservative who is determined to turn New York’s economy around. Since elected to the Nassau County Legislature, Becker has served eight consecutive terms, winning by large margins. Becker attended Nassau Community College and Hofstra University, where he studied Business Finance. In addition to serving as a legislator, Becker also has a background in business and is President of Becker & Associates Planning Services and is a Certified Financial Planner. Becker has served as Chairman of the Major Project Cerebral Palsy Committee for the New York #1 Elks Lodge for 20 consecutive years and is presently the Chairman of the Americanism Committee.

Becker now faces a new set of rigorous goals that will elevate him to the top level of the Young Guns program and help him build a competitive, effective and winning campaign.
