Democrats Bizarrely Align Themselves with “Occupy” Demonstrators Despite Mounting Criminal Allegations and Millions in Costs to Cities

  • Speaking yesterday in New Hampshire, President Obama told “Occupy” protestors “you are the reason I ran for office,” aligning himself with the radical movement and its goals.
  • Obama’s not the only one doubling down on his support for “occupiers.” Democrat Leader Nancy Pelosi yesterday sent a Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee fundraising appeal defending the protestors’ antics.
  • Apparently Democrats are not at all concerned by the increasing criminal activity associated with the movement, including more than 4,000 arrests and increasing crime in local communities.

BACKGROUND

Speaking yesterday in New Hampshire, President Obama told “Occupy” protestors “you are the reason I ran for office,” aligning himself with the radical movement and its goals:

Obama’s not the only one doubling down on his support for “occupiers.” Democrat Leader Nancy Pelosi yesterday sent a Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee fundraising appeal defending the protestors’ antics:

NANCY PELOSI GOES TO BAT FOR “OCCUPIERS” TO RAISE CASH FOR DCCC: “So it’s interesting to see that the DCCC is sticking by Occupy Wall Street. Indeed, the DCCC is now raising money off that recent report of a GOP-connected corporate lobbying firm’s proposed smear campaign against the movement. Nancy Pelosi has authored a DCCC fundraising email that presents this as proof that Republicans are on the side of Wall Street and against Dems and the protesters…” (Greg Sargent, “Despite Attacks, Dems Standing by Occupy Wall Street,” The Washington Post’s “The Plum Line”, 11/22/2011)

DCCC CHAIRMAN REP. STEVE ISRAEL (D-NY) DOUBLES DOWN ON SUPPORT FOR “OCCUPY”: ” ‘When the rich get richer and the poor get poorer, you no longer have an economic base,’ Israel said. ‘Occupy Wall Street really does manifest a true, deep anxiety about the shrinking middle class.'” (Bianca Dennis, “Congressman Israel Lays Out Plan for 2012 at CU Dems Event,” The Columbia Spectator, 11/21/2011)
