With Upcoming Push to Cut Red Tape, Will Mike Ross Support More Job-Destroying Spending Instead?
New Poll Shows Public Outrage at Spending While Arkansas Democrat’s Colleagues Continue to Push for More Stimulus

Washington — As Republicans push this week to remove burdensome big-government regulations that have stifled job creation, Mike Ross’ fellow party members have instead been renewing the push for even more reckless spending. This is all occurring at a time when new polls show that the American public strongly understands that we need to shrink the size of our bloated government and provide the right economic climate for private sector job creation. If Ross continues to stand by his fellow Democrats in continuing their job-destroying spending spree, it will be a clear sign that he places his party before getting Arkansas back to work.

“In response to the calls from voters to make job creation a priority, it seems that Mike Ross and his fellow Democrats only have more spending to offer as a solution,” said NRCC Communications Director Paul Lindsay. “Ross and his party leaders may be the last to understand that Americans want an end to the big-government policies that continue to stifle job creation. That process starts with cutting red tape and empowering job creators, not the increased stimulus spending that Democrats are calling for.”

In a new poll conducted for The Hill, the Democrats’ plans for more even more borrowing and spending were shown to be remarkably out of touch, with voters understanding that stimulus-style spending had failed to create jobs:

“The poll also finds the public continues to believe President Obama’s 2009 economic stimulus package failed to help the economy.

“Only 36 percent of voters surveyed said stimulus spending creates jobs, while 48 percent said flatly that it does not. Crucially, 61 percent of independent voters took that negative view.” (Erik Wasson, “THE HILL POLL: Voters oppose raising the $14.3T debt ceiling,” The Hill, 2/7/11)

With Republicans heeding the calls from voters this week to cut the red tape and set the right conditions for private sector job growth, it remains to be seen where Mike Ross stands. Will Ross stand up for Arkansas families and get serious about removing burdensome regulation, or will he continue the Democrats’ wasteful big-government policies which have done nothing but expand the federal deficit to the breaking point and hinder job creation?
