Arkansas Democrat Rejects the Plan that Gets Spending Under Control
Washington — Mike Ross demonstrated today that he is not serious about turning our fiscal situation around when he voted against the only budget plan that will adequately get spending under control, encourage private-sector job creation and save Medicare and Medicaid for current and future generations (Roll Call Vote #277, 4/15/11). Instead, Ross and his fellow Democrats continue to launch political attacks and use scare tactics rather than propose any viable alternative. Ross’ vote today was a clear sign that he will continue to play political games in order to protect their unsustainable, failed policies of spending and borrowing money we simply do not have.
“Mike Ross would rather protect the Democrats’ failed big-spending policies than support the only serious plan to bring our skyrocketing debt under control, have our government live within its means and pave the way for private-sector job creation,” said NRCC Communications Director Paul Lindsay. “Instead, he and his fellow Democrats continue to cling to policies that fuel their addiction to spending money we don’t have and borrowing from countries like China which only worsens the impending fiscal disaster.”
The Democrats continue to lack any “credible” budget plan that avoids bankrupting Medicare:
“Attacking the Republican plan might reap short-term political rewards, but the lack of presidential leadership is distressing. Without a credible proposal of their own, it’s hard to believe the Democrats understand the danger posed by the rapidly escalating national debt.”
(Editorial, “Dems bash GOP budget, but where’s theirs?” USA Today, 4/5/11)Unfortunately, Ross again failed to act when it counts by voting against the only plan that gets our skyrocketing deficits under control and saves Medicare and Medicaid from bankruptcy. With no credible Democrat proposal, Ross seems content to let the debt burden continue to increase on the backs of current and future Arkansas families.
