Dem Fairness Decoder Ring: Corzine “Vaporized” $1.2 Billion in Customer Cash, But His Personal Money Is Still in DCCC Coffers

January 31, 2012

House Democrats’ Curious Definition of “Fairness” Lets DCCC Hold Onto Scandal-Tainted Donations from Jon Corzine

  • An investigation into how now-bankrupt MF Global, formerly led by Obama’s “Wall Street Guy” and stimulus architect Jon Corzine, lost $1.2 billion in customer money has now determined that the funds were “vaporized” and likely will never be recovered.
  • The news will no doubt prove a crushing blow to the farmers and families who were already struggling with the consequences of MF Global’s bankruptcy following the firm’s high-risk ventures and eventual downfall.
  • Despite the tragic consequences of Corzine’s irresponsible bets, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee continues to cling to $130,000 in scandal-tainted Corzine cash. Do Democrats think it’s fair that they can horde Corzine’s campaign cash while the families and farmers that invested in his firm face hardship?

An investigation into how now-bankrupt MF Global, formerly led by Obama’s “Wall Street Guy” and stimulus architect Jon Corzine, lost $1.2 billion in customer money has now determined that the funds were “vaporized” and likely will never be recovered:

“MONEY FROM MF GLOBAL FEARED GONE,” “MIGHT NEVER BE RECOVERED”:“Nearly three months after MF Global Holdings Ltd. collapsed, officials hunting for an estimated $1.2 billion in missing customer money increasingly believe that much of it might never be recovered, according to people familiar with the investigation.” (Scott Patterson, “Money from MF Global Feared Gone,” Wall Street Journal, 1/30/2012)

$1.2 BILLION IN CUSTOMER MONEY MAY HAVE BEEN “VAPORIZED”: “As the sprawling probe that includes regulators, criminal and congressional investigators, and court-appointed trustees grinds on, the findings so far suggest that a ‘significant amount’ of the money could have ‘vaporized’ as a result of chaotic trading at MF Global during the week before the company’s Oct. 31 bankruptcy filing, said a person close to the investigation.” (Scott Patterson, “Money from MF Global Feared Gone,” Wall Street Journal, 1/30/2012)

OBAMA CALLED CORZINE “OUR WALL STREET GUY”: “The rollout also provided a showcase for Corzine, the former Goldman Sachs CEO whom Obama referred to as ‘our Wall Street guy’ at a meeting of Democratic governors in Chicago on Friday.”(Claire Heininger, “Corzine Profile Rises in Obama Camp,” The New Jersey Star-Ledger, 6/23/2008)

VP JOE BIDEN: WE “LITERALLY PICKED UP THE PHONE AND CALLED JON CORZINE” ABOUT HOW TO DESIGN STIMULUS: “Ladies and gentlemen, the president and I weren’t back there blaming Jon Corzine then. You know what we were doing? We were on the phone, calling Jon Corzine—literally. I literally picked up the phone and called Jon Corzine and said, ‘Jon, what do you think we should do?’ The reason why we called Jon is because we knew he knew about the economy, about world markets, about how we had to respond, unlike almost anyone we knew… We trusted his judgment. … The facts were, Jon, leading your legislature, was already moving in New Jersey on an economic stimulus package before anybody else was. … Jon suggested, and laid out, and we talked a long time, about what the elements of the recovery package nationally should be.”(Remarks from Joe Biden, YouTube, Accessed 11/14/2011)

The news will no doubt prove a crushing blow to the farmers and families who were already struggling with the consequences of MF Global’s bankruptcy following the firm’s high-risk ventures and eventual downfall:

FARMERS SUE JON CORZINE OVER MISSING MILLIONS“: “Montana farmers have filed a class action suit against former New Jersey governor Jon Corzine, charging that the failed financial firm run by Corzine stole millions from their accounts to pay off its spiraling debts, and that Corzine’s ‘single-minded obsession’ with making MF Global a big player on Wall Street led to the firm’s collapse. MF Global’s clients included 38,000 wheat farmers, cattle ranchers and others who ‘hedged’ their crop prices by placing millions in MF Global accounts.”(Cindy Galli, “Farmers Sue Jon Corzine Over Missing Millions,” ABC News, 1/9/2012)

MF GLOBAL COLLAPSE “HITTING HARD ACROSS RURAL AMERICA” AS FARMERS “NERVOUSLY WAITING TO LEARN HOW MUCH MONEY THEY’VE LOST”: “The shock waves from the collapse of commodities trading firm MF Global Inc. are hitting hard across rural America, where farmers, ranchers and agricultural business owners are nervously waiting to learn how much money they’ve lost.”(Steve Karnowski, “Shock Waves from MF Global Collapse Felt on Farms,” Associated Press, 12/4/2011)

Despite the tragic consequences of Corzine’s irresponsible bets, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee continues to cling to $130,000 in scandal-tainted Corzine cash. Do Democrats think it’s fair that they can horde Corzine’s campaign cash while the families and farmers that invested in his firm face hardship?:
