Will Carnahan Raise Job-Crushing Taxes on Middle-Class Families Just to Protect his Own Spending Addiction?
Democrats Want to Raise Taxes Instead of Ending their Spending and Borrowing from China
Washington — As efforts continue to craft long-term debt solutions during the debt ceiling debate, Missouri Democrat Russ Carnahan’s party leaders in Washington are leading off with what they know best, which is raising job-destroying taxes. Since Carnahan has loyally helped his Democrat leaders defend their spending and borrowing spree in the past, will he also support their plans to raise taxes on families and small businesses instead of having the government live within its means?
“Russ Carnahan and his Democrat leaders have stood side by side in promoting their spending spree we couldn’t afford and borrowing money from countries like China to pay for it,” said NRCC Communications Director Paul Lindsay. “Now that these same Democrat leaders are leading off with more job-crushing tax hikes on families and small businesses to continue defending their spending and borrowing binge, will Carnahan join them and continue indebting future generations in Missouri to foreign countries?”
The Democrats began the first meeting of the President’s debt-reduction group by proposing job-destroying tax increases:
“There’s no real road map for a deal, and Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner started off by putting a tax increase on the table — a nonstarter for Republicans.” (Jake Sherman and Meredith Shiner, “Deficit talks lack clear path to deal,”
Politico, 5/6/11)
While efforts continue to have the government live within its means, Russ Carnahan’s Democrat leaders are desperately defending their spending spree with more job-crushing taxes. Will Carnahan once again join them and continue the endless spending?
