Will McIntyre March in Lockstep with Democrats Who Want Even More Spending with Debt Ceiling Hike?
Non-Partisan Analysts Urge Quicker Action on Deficit, Top Dems Say Spend & Borrow More

Washington — Right as new reports from the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office (CBO) warned lawmakers to get serious about reducing our skyrocketing debt levels sooner, Mike McIntyre’s Democrat leaders continued to intensify their calls for even more stimulus spending along with a debt limit increase. Since top Democrats seem inclined to ignore the government’s own alarm bells on our unsustainable debt, will McIntyre join them in demanding more of the same spend and borrow policies that define their stewardship of this broken fiscal system?

“Instead of heeding the alarming warnings from the government’s own budget experts, Mike McIntyre’s Democrat leaders are blindly preparing another round of spending and borrowing while the first one continues to push us closer to a fiscal catastrophe,” said NRCC Communications Director Paul Lindsay. “McIntyre’s Democrat colleagues are clearly unable to kick their spending addiction that continues to pile on a bigger share of the government’s debt onto each North Carolina family. It would be very telling if McIntyre were to join his Democrat colleagues in attempting to somehow fix our exploding debt levels with more spending and borrowing.”

Right when the CBO released new reports detailing how the national debt will become bigger than the entire economy in just a few years at its current course, top Senate Democrats renewed their calls for even more stimulus spending along with raising the debt ceiling:

“Senate Democrats on Wednesday said stimulus measures should be included in a debt-ceiling deal even as a new Congressional Budget Office (CBO) report shows public debt surging to nearly twice the economy’s size by 2035.”

“The annual long-term budget outlook forecasts a surge in public debt this year that will rise to 70 percent of GDP by the end of fiscal 2011, compared to 62 percent by the end of 2010. The figures are worse than those released by the CBO just a year ago.” (Erik Wasson, “Dems call for stimulus in debt deal as CBO offers warnings,” The Hill‘s On The Money Blog, 6/22/11)

Mike McIntyre’s Democrat leaders are again demonstrating how out of touch they are in prescribing more spending and borrowing as a cure for our exploding debt levels. Will McIntyre join them in ignoring the warning signs and adding even more debt to future generations in North Carolina?
