Under Kate Marshall’s Failed Economic Leadership, Nevada’s Economy Plummets from Second to Dead Last in America

July 26, 2011

As the self-proclaimed ‘steward’ of Nevada’s economic recovery, state Treasurer Kate Marshall presided over the worst economic decline of any state in America.

When Kate Marshall took office as Nevada’s top financial officer, Nevada’s economy was ranked 2nd in America.

But [the 2010] study puts Nevada in 51st place, dead-last among the 50 states and the District of Columbia.” (G. Scott Thomas, “Study unveils nation’s worst economies: Nevada, Florida, California,” Triangle Business Journal, 7/27/2010)

Kate Marshall continues to boast about her failed record claiming, “I have taken the state through this fiscal crisis, steered it with a steady hand.” (KSNV’s “Face to Face,” 7/20/11)

NRCC Comment:

“Nevada’s economy is the worst in the nation thanks to Kate Marshall’s failed record as the state’s top financial officer. Under most circumstances Kate Marshall would be fired for her lousy performance. Instead, Harry Reid’s handpicked candidate has the nerve to ask struggling Nevada families for a promotion.” – Tyler Q. Houlton, NRCC Spokesman
