Government Takeover Could Raise Healthcare Costs and Force Americans to Lose Coverage
Even Obamacare Supporters are Alarmed by the Potentially Devastating Consequences

DC DEMOCRATS STILL DON’T GET IT: Washington Democrats continue to champion their government takeover of healthcare, even though most Americans want it repealed:

“Most voters still favor repeal of the national health care law and believe it will increase the federal deficit at the very time President Obama and Congress are trying to find ways to make significant cuts in government spending.

“The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey of Likely Voters shows that 54% favor repeal of the health care law passed in March of last year, including 43% who Strongly Favor its repeal. Thirty-nine percent (39%) oppose repeal of the law, including 26% who are Strongly Opposed.” (“Health Care Law,” Rasmussen Reports, 7/18/11)

MADE IN WASHINGTON, DC: Once again, the Democrats expect struggling American middle-class families to foot the bill for their unpopular healthcare plan even if that means losing coverage and paying higher premiums:

“A major provision of the healthcare reform law designed to prevent businesses from dropping coverage for their workers could inadvertently leave families without access to subsidized health insurance.”

“‘It’s going to be a massive problem if it comes out that families have to buy really expensive employer-based coverage,’ said Jocelyn Guyer, deputy executive director at Georgetown University’s Center for Children and Families.

“‘If they don’t fix this — and by ‘they’ I mean either the administration or Congress — we’re going to have middle-class families extremely unhappy with [healthcare] reform in 2014, because they’ll basically be facing financial penalties for not buying coverage when they don’t have access to any affordable options.'”

“One new study, by the Employment Policies Institute, estimates that changing the policy could cost taxpayers $50 billion a year. But if the administration leaves the policy as is ‘millions of families will be stuck in a no-man’s-land without affordable coverage through their employer or the exchange.'” (Julian Pecquet, “Healthcare law could leave families with high insurance costs,” The Hill, 7/21/11)
