Job Creators Decry Harmful Democrat Policies: Will Costa Listen?
Democrat Polices Ignore the Disastrous Consequences of Their Job-Destroying Red Tape

Washington — Even during the continuing economic turmoil, Jim Costa is turning a blind eye to his burdensome red tape that will keep destroying jobs and make matters even worse when middle-class families in California are urgently looking for signs of economic recovery. As small businesses continue to directly blame the Democrats’ policies for actively stifling their ability to grow and create jobs, will Costa actually recognize their grievances?

“Even though middle-class families looking for work in California are still struggling, Jim Costa has continued to champion policies which directly destroy jobs and make a bad economy worse,” said NRCC Communications Director Paul Lindsay. “Costa’s Democrat leaders are now recklessly pushing for some of the most expensive regulations in the country’s history. Will Costa actually listen to job creators and advocate for real pro-growth policies or will he continue to follow his fellow Democrats in stifling the bad economy with even more red tape?”

Top business leaders found top Obama Administration officials to be completely unreceptive to their complaints that their newest regulations could force job creators to spend $90 billion every year on red tape compliance instead of growing and creating jobs:

“Nine top business and industry officials walked into EPA headquarters Friday afternoon to tell agency chief Lisa Jackson exactly what they think of her plans to tighten the federal ozone standard.”

“But they left the meeting convinced that EPA planned to stick to its guns and are now taking their case to a higher power: The White House. They say the stricter ozone standards would hurt both industry and President Barack Obama’s chances for reelection.

“Prior to Friday’s meeting, the Business Roundtable – a coalition of major U.S. companies – sent a letter to White House chief of staff Bill Daley asking EPA to back off of its plans, arguing that the final rule ‘promises to be the single most expensive environmental regulation ever imposed on the U.S. economy’ and could cost up to $90 billion annually.” (Robin Bravender, “Industry: EPA hurts Obama in 2012,” Politico, 7/15/11)

Jim Costa’s Democrat leaders continue to advance their big-government policies regardless of their consequences. In this case, that means more red tape and fewer jobs when the struggling economy needs pro-growth policies the most. Will Costa continue to turn a blind eye to these harmful Democrat policies, or will he actually listen to private sector small businesses that are the key to economic recovery?
