Maine Democrat Decides Having the Government Live Within Its Means is Too Unreasonable a Request
Washington — Mike Michaud voted today to oppose more common-sense efforts to limit his ability to spend and borrow unabated in order to pay for his failed big-government policies. In rejecting the Cut, Cap and Balance Act, Michaud makes it clear that his alternative is to tax, spend and raise the debt limit without any changes to the way he and his fellow Washington Democrats have done business.
“Instead of supporting a promise to have the government live within its means, Mike Michaud signaled to his constituents that he would rather tax, spend and raise his credit card limit even higher so that he can continue to ignore the dire consequences of his failed Democrat policies,” said NRCC Communications Director Paul Lindsay. “Michaud again demonstrated that he is oblivious to the calls for serious deficit reduction to pave the way for job creation, and instead would rather continue to spend and borrow from foreign countries like China and place that burden on future generations of Maine families.”
The Cut, Cap and Balance Act would institute meaningful reforms that would ensure the government only spends the money it has:
Michaud voted against the Cut, Cap and Balance Act on Tuesday evening. (H.R. 2560, Roll Call Vote #606, Passed 234-190: R 229-9; D 5-181, 7/19/11)
Mike Michaud decided again today that having the government live within its means was too unreasonable a request. Instead he demonstrates that he would rather raise taxes, spend more and raise the limit on his credit card to continue the failed Democrat policies that are pushing us toward a debt catastrophe.
