MADE IN DC: Small Businesses Stifled Under the Democrats’ Failed Economic Policies
New Survey Shows Democrat Policies Creating Roadblocks to Growing and Hiring
DC DEMOCRATS STILL DON’T GET IT: The Democrats who control Washington fully acknowledge their ownership of the economy and insist their big-government policies will work with more time:
“After 2½ years in office, President Obama now ‘owns’ the economy as an issue, according to top adviser David Plouffe, who added he was confident that voters understand that recovering from a devastating recession Mr. Obama inherited takes time.
“‘Of course he does,’ Mr. Plouffe told NBC’s ‘Today’ show host Matt Lauer when asked point-blank if Mr. Obama owns the economy. ‘But the American people understand that we — it took us a long time to get to this mess,’ Mr. Plouffe said. ‘It’s going to take us some time to come out. We are making progress.'” (Kara Rowland, “Obama adviser: ‘Of course’ he owns the economy,” The Washington Times, 6/30/11)
MADE IN WASHINGTON, DC: However, the Democrats’ relentless policies of unlimited spending and borrowing have stifled job-creation, halting small businesses in their tracks from hiring or expanding:
“The owners of many small businesses say economic uncertainty and inflationary pressures have led them to delay hiring and capital expenditures. Seventy percent have no plans to expand their staffs over the next 12 months, according to a recent U.S. Bancorp survey of 1,004 U.S. companies with annual revenue of $10 million or less.
“While about half projected higher revenue a year from now, 78% said the U.S. economy is still in a recession, and many expected it to remain there next year. In May, for the third month in a row, the optimism index of the National Federation of Independent Business declined.” (Dana Mattioli and Sarah E. Needleman, “For Small Businesses, Recession Isn’t Over,” The Wall Street Journal, 7/6/11)
